Gate Systems

Entry Gates

Entry Gate Systems are based in Plymouth and we operate all throughout the South West. We specialise in gates and offer installation, repair and maintenance services for all of our products. The gates we offer include swing gates and sliding gates and they can be further broken down into single leaf, double leaf, and tracked or cantilever respectively. All of our gates adhere to the gate safety standards and legislation as set out in the standard BSBN1324-1, which incorporates the practise of gate force testing to ensure the manufactured quality is up to a more than acceptable standard. These standards have been endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The Benefit of gates

There are benefits for both sliding and swing gates and it comes down to what would be best suited for the situation and your gate requirements. Both have their positives and negatives. Swing gates require less repair and maintenance and this is largely due to the fact that they are built up of less moving parts compared with a sliding gate, which requires more parts due to its additional complexity. Sliding gates are also built on a moving track that needs to be maintained in order to function properly, making the swing gate a more attractive and simpler solution for the average owner. You’ll also find sliding gates lean more towards the noisier side of things as opposed to the quieter, more common swing gate. Although a swing gate is often considered the more viable option for most purposes, it doesn’t offer some advantages found in the sliding gate and has problems of its own.

Sliding gates are perfect for the situation where a swing gate wouldn’t have enough room to fully operate, whether there’s a natural blockage in terms of the landscape such as rocks or a wall, or something else preventing the space needed for an effective swing gate. Because of their light and simple build, a swing gate could be less sturdy than that of sliding gate, which consists of a more complex and expensive build. Tracked sliding gates are electric and offer high security making them the ideal form of protection to your business or property. They can also be manually operated in the event of a power failure making them secure and reliable even if something should go wrong. Cantilever sliding gates are different from tracked in the sense that they are elevated meaning they do not require a track, cutting down on the maintenance required.

Sliding gates

We offer installation, repair and maintenance services for all of our sliding gates.

The benefits of sliding gates

Sliding gates are perfect for the scenario where a swing gate wouldn’t have the necessary room to fully operate, whether there’s a natural blockage in terms of rocks or a wall, or something else preventing the space needed for an effective and safe swing gate. Sliding gates are sturdier than the swing gate, due to their more complex build; however, they are noisier due to the sliding track that they operate on.

Tracked sliding gates are electric and offer high security making them the ideal form of protection to your business or property. Cantilever sliding gates are different from tracked because they are elevated meaning they do not require a track cutting down the maintenance required. All our sliding gates can be powder coated according to our RAL Chart range. Sliding gates are a great option for your home, and we can readily install them for your driveway at your leisure. As well as adding an attractive touch to your home, sliding gates provide an excellent responsive service and added security measure for your property.

Swing gates

We offer installation, repair and maintenance services for all of our swing gates.

The benefits of Swing gates

Swing gates are popular and useful because they don’t come with a high level of repair and maintenance and this is largely due to the fact that they are built up of less moving parts compared with a sliding gate, which requires more parts due to its different, more complex design and added functions of moving along a track.

Swing gates are simple and the cheaper option for home owners, and they also do not require a track to run on, making maintenance much more manageable and the swing gate a more attractive and simpler solution for the majority of home owners. Furthermore, due to the lack of moving parts and simpler design, swing gates are the more house-friendly option if you’re looking for a gate installation for your driveway due to the lack of attention needed once installed, the minimal noise and care required, which would be different in the case of a more complicated sliding gate mechanism.
